Clean Tech Propulsion Long Flight Endurance
CLEAN TECH PROPULSION: The AirShip UAVs are powered by 28% efficient solar film during 12 hours of daylight flight. A Hydrogen Fuel Cell, with 250 watts of continuous power, uses hydrogen from onboard two wing-mounted hydrogen fuel tanks to generate in-flight electricity for multiple days of continuous flight. Solar film is recharged through the Sun's rays and the hydrogen fuel can be produced from commercially available methane or from onsite electrolysis of water.

DRONE 2.0 –AirShip’s turn-key process for 3D printing FDM-based long-flight endurance vertical takeoff and landing UAV’s is deployable from filament to production within a short period of time. The process allows for rapid production with embedded sensors and communications for line-of-sight (LOS) and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) command and control.

AlphaDrive and R&D. AIRSHIP/Alpha Sky, own AlphaDrive – a scalable Hyper Propulsion Ducted Fan VTOL-to-Fixed Wing Thrust Diverter with Exhaust Nozzle (U.S. Patent: 10,040,547). This invention is an alternative to the vectoring aft ducted fan above and can be configured for your air vehicle of choice.
Research and development continues on key technology objectives for advanced AirShip UAVs including the development of a biomimetic visual-enabled collision avoidance and navigation system for use in GPS-denied environments. This feature enables autonomous flight operations and routes, plus enables flights through forests, urban canyons, caves and buildings. The drone will autonomously dip, dive and change direction to fly safely around, under, and over obstacles. The feature uses a stereo-vision algorithm enabling the drone to detect objects and build a full map of its surroundings in real time.

The AirShip Endurance V1, V2 and V5 UAVs are developed to operate autonomously through an unmanned aerial system (UAS) that provides 1st Responder customers with a superior real-time video view for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR). The AirShip Endurance VTOL UAV lateral and rear turbines are a combination ducted fan with integrated Solar Turbine Air Accelerators (compressed air) that support the UAV clean tech propulsion system. Both electric propulsion systems can be used simultaneously or independently. For low acoustics stealth flight, only the integrated air accelerators are enabled.
These solar turbines provide thrust propulsion required by the UAV vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), consume dramatically less energy during forward fixed wing flight operation, and are designed to fly with a multi-day flight endurance. With its efficient design, the AirShip Endurance VTOL UAV quickly operates flight management and delivers sustainable propulsion via applied external solar film, a hydrogen fuel cell, and internal rechargeable ultracapacitors for stored electricity.

The AIRSHIP Medevac Transport Urban Air Mobility (UAM) solution develops and validates aerospace technologies and techniques to overcome key barriers for close air support vertical lift vehicles. Specifically, the proposal’s work plan addresses technical objectives for non-conventional vertical lift configurations that perform the following:
- Constructs UAM mitigation strategies for people on autonomous medevac.
- Innovates Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) using AlphaDrive propulsion for seamless forward flight transition for environmentally friendly and sustainable close air to ground transportation.
- Leverages an AIRSHIP VTOL UAM scalable architecture and work breakdown structure for mass production of a new transport air vehicle.

The AirShip Endurance V1, V2 and V5 VTOL UAVs are developed for the military; however, there is an additional market calling for 1st Responders, AgriBusiness and specialized sensor deployment for the subscription-based AirScape mobile application. The UAVs are configured for both aerial and submersible intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR). An in-depth analysis of the UAV’s vertical unmanned market was performed based on global market trends for augmentation or substitution of light aircraft, helicopters, and fixed wing aircraft. The analysis of the industry’s competitive structure and market segments has indicated the existence of an under-satisfied and sufficiently large target market to warrant exploitation by long flight endurance and submersible multi-functional UAVs.
